Contrast Audio Loudspeakers

We are pleased and excited to announce the release of Contrast Audiko loudspeakers here in Australia and now available from Wyndham Audio. A big thank you to GrizzlyWorks High Fidelity Audio who are the Australian distributors for Contrast Audio products, a business that has a long and proud affiliation with Wyndham Audio.

Contrast Audio design higher efficiency speakers that eschew the use of traditional heavy, power sapping crossovers. Instead, they design and manufacture their own drivers from only naturally derived materials (silk, paper, timber, cotton, wool) to have a gentle roll off, and implement only low pass filters in the form of high quality Mundorf capacitors. Thus their 2 way designs have only a single internal electronic component to prevent harmful low frequencies from damaging the silk dome tweeter.

With all drivers and cabinetry made in house, quality control is rigorous so they are willing to offer a very generous 12 year warranty against manufacturing defects!

The careful design, along with the most minimal possible internal filtration, gives Contrast Audio speakers the most natural of presentations, with an extremely low level of phase shift, a benign impedance curve and higher than average sensitivity. This makes them ideally suited to lower powered tube amplification, although they will shine with any well designed and made amplifier.

All Contrast Audio speakers are rear ported, allowing you to tune the bass response with careful positioning to suit your own tastes. Even the ports themselves are made in house, carefully turned from timber in a Laval Tube shape to enhance dynamics and damping, while allowing maximum bass response.

The piano gloss finishes are astonishing in their smoothness and depth.  Standard colours are Black, Red and Mahogany Brown. An enormous array of other options are also available at a nominal extra cost.

All stand mount models can be ordered with hand-built, Australian made stands designed specifically to enhance the sound of this range alone.

Models:

Monitor- the entry level model, though there is nothing “entry level" about the amazingly cohesive music it will present. Pinpoint imaging and a lively, engaging flair that will have your toes tapping and a huge smile on your face!

Model One- the popular choice. Gives up the most minuscule of focus for a fullness of sound and most beguiling mid-range tone. They won’t hurt your pocket, but they will pull strongly on your heartstrings!

Lens- the striking design. With the same driver complement as the Model One and Monitor you have their strengths, alongside the ethereal quality given by a decoupled, over-sized front baffle made of 25mm thick solid beech timber. Let yourself float away, surrounded by sonic bliss!

Magic- the unusual one. How often do you see a 3 way stand-mount speaker these days that isn’t modeled on a studio monitor? The Magic combines the wonderful imaging of a stand-mount speaker with the gravitas only a dedicated bass driver can give. The best of both worlds!

Black Moon- like the wind. The Black Moon can be forceful, serious and insistant. Or playful, light and delicate. Beautifully finished and with a sound to match.

Soul- the heart. Everything the Black Moon is, combined with everything the Lens is. The drivers in the Soul are essentially the same as the rest of the Contrast range, but mildly tweaked to suit their use in the decoupled, over-sized, 25mm thick solid beech timber baffle. Get right to the heart of the music, without feeling like you’re using a surgical instrument to do so. The Soul will show you every part of your favourite pieces, but keep them all together, carefully arranged exactly the way the performer intended.
