Hello folks,
I'm pleased and excited to announce that we are developing our first standmount loudspeaker, a two way bass reflex design that will finally fill a void in our range of loudspeakers.
These two way standmount loudspeakers are currently in the development stage, but we are very close to completing our first pair. They are a departure from our current CH and BR range of loudspeakers, in so much as these are a joint venture between myself and my friend Tony Caloia, from TC Loudpseakers in Forster NSW.
Tony produces all his loudspeakers in natural timber enclosures and they look and feel magnificent when he finishes them with oil and beeswax. The enclosures we've built here have an mdf inner enclosure with a special constrained layer between that and the outer solid natural timber. The solid timber we have chosen for our first prototype pair is Australian Rosewood.
We have spent a large portion of the last week testing, listening and fine tuning the crossover network and I must say we are very pleased with the stunning sound we are currently experiencing. These have a wonderful tonal balance with the brilliant 5.5" Scanspeak Revelator blending seamlessly with the TB full range driver that is taking care of the high frequency duties.
The Scanspeak Revelator driver is one of my favourite drivers and I think arguably, one of the best mid woofers ever made. The bass impact is incredible for a 5.5" mid woofer and the TB driver is extremely clean and detailed. When combined with the reinforced and braced solid natural timber enclosures, they exhibit a unique tone that is hard to replicate in a traditionally built loudspeaker enclosure. The solid natural timber seems to produce a reproduction of the music that draws you into it, with the loudspeakers simply vanishing.
These two way standmounts will be completed in the next few weeks, so please stayed tuned for a release date and much more information to come.
Cheers,
Keith
